Nadine Labaki
Writer-Director-Actress
Lebanon
Nadine’s last film as director, CAPERNAUM, made Arab film history on several fronts. With that film, she
become the first female Arab director to be nominated for an Oscar, a Bafta and a Golden Globe. She also set
the worldwide box office record for any Arab filmmaker when her film grossed $64 million, with most of those
ticket sales coming out of China (yet another milestone for Arab cinema). As an actress, she just finished
shooting the Arabic remake of the Italian hit film PERFECT STRANGERS and is now working on her new film
directorial project THE INVISIBLES, an English-language remake by Netflix of the 2018 French film by the
same about a homeless shelter forced to shut down.
