Both born in 1969 in Beirut, Joana and Khalil were already well-known in the art-world for their collaboration on films, photographs, and installations, often using cinematic fragments to examine the emergence and disappearance of images. These themes resurface in their 2021 Canadian-French-Lebanese drama MEMORY BOX in which the lives of three women are connected by the arrival of a box containing notebooks, photographs and audiotapes.
